In recent times, our city and tourism sectors overwhelmingly voted to expand the renowned Gillette Athletic Complex and construct a state-of-the-art pickleball facility.

Gillette has become a local gem, attracting not only our residents but also visitors from across the state and country. The facility's popularity has bolstered our local economy, as it serves as a destination for sports tournaments and brings tourism dollars into our community. By supporting youth athletics, we not only provide recreational opportunities for our children but also stimulate economic growth and promote Wilson as a vibrant and dynamic city.

Driving Economic Growth through Strategic Investments

Our continued investment in Wilson Corporate Park has yielded positive outcomes, creating employment opportunities for our community members. World-renowned pharmaceutical companies and other industries within the park are generating much-needed jobs. This strategic investment has contribute to the economic vitality of our city, empowering individuals and families with stable employment and financial security.

Recognizing the crucial role of infrastructure in fostering growth, we have taken significant steps to secure our future water needs. Enlarging Buckhorn Reservoir, our largest water supply, ensures a reliable water source for our businesses and residents. Additionally, we have allocated substantial resources to water treatment and wastewater upgrades, ensuring clean and sustainable water resources for our community.

Furthermore, we have built our own broadband system, Greenlight, which provides our citizens with access to educational tools and opportunities. This high-speed internet infrastructure not only supports our educational institutions but also enables local medical facilities to efficiently share diagnostic data, leading to improved healthcare outcomes. By empowering businesses, both large and small, with reliable broadband connectivity, Greenlight enables them to compete on a global scale, attract investments, and thrive in today's digital age.

Fostering Vibrant Public-Private Partnerships

Our downtown area has experienced significant public investment, creating a foundation for flourishing public-private partnerships. These collaborations have revitalized our downtown, transforming it into a thriving hub of activity. The growth in our downtown area is expected to extend outward, reaching Highway 301 and beyond, unlocking new opportunities for businesses and residents alike.

By fostering public-private partnerships, we encourage the development of mixed-use spaces, attract new businesses, and create an engaging environment where residents can live, work, and play. These partnerships stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities, and foster a sense of community pride. Investing in our micro-transit system, RIDE, has significantly improved the quality of life for all Wilsonians. Our nationally recognized RIDE program provides affordable transportation options for medical care, work, and shopping. By ensuring accessible and convenient transportation, we empower individuals to access essential services and opportunities, regardless of their circumstances.

RIDE not only reduces the burden of transportation costs for our residents but also contributes to a cleaner environment by reducing individual car usage. Through this initiative, we are creating a sustainable transportation network that promotes inclusivity, reduces traffic congestion, and improves the overall livability of our city.
